During a car accident in 1999, Jeanne Fransway was ejected from her vehicle when the windshield failed.
A recent investigation by New York news station CBS2 revealed that improperly installed windshields are still a common problem in the auto glass replacement industry.
According to Debra Levy of the Auto Glass Safety Council, as many as 85% of replacement windshields are installed incorrectly. There are no laws or governing bodies that regulate the installation of automotive glass, so “anyone can put a magnetic sign on the side of their truck and say they’re an auto glass installer,” said Levy.
