Samaritan’s Purse Water Projects are helping to save lives and improve quality of living for some of the more than 780 million people around the world who do not have access to clean water. When Samaritan’s Purse installs the Samaritan Water Filters in Schools, students and families also receive health and hygiene training to better their health and stop the spread of disease.
Most of us in the west are blessed enough to never have to deal with contaminated water supplies, but for much of the world this is the horrible reality. In a country like Cambodia, the main source of any villager’s drinking water will come from rain fall. While the water that the earth supplies us is clean, storage is an issue. The lack of infrastructure in third world countries forces people to store their drinking water in large, still basins. With no water treatment facilities in place, these basins become breeding grounds for bacteria and disease carrying mosquitoes.
The lack of proper waste disposal drastically worsens and already dire situation. It is beyond dire — it is an epidemic. Children are loosing their lives to diseases that are preventable and easily treated in our society. But without the financial ability to receive treatment or to adequately purify the water The death toll continues to rise.
With the help of truly gracious donors like yourselves, and fundraisers like our own Rick Campbell, Samaritan’s Purse is installing hundreds of biosand water filters to those in need.
In Rick’s Own Words:
Southridge Church will be travelling as a team to Cambodia to build a Samaritan Filter, hand washing stations and latrines for a rural school. The program we are supporting also includes health and hygiene training for the students at the school.
Will you join with us to help make a difference in the lives of Cambodians? Your donation will not only help make this incredible opportunity a reality, but you will also be helping to bring clean water and hope to people in Cambodia!
