Every year Rick from 1st Choice Auto Detailing (a Crackmaster and Scorpion Bedliner Dealer in Lloydminster, Alberta) helps to make a difference in our world by volunteering his time to help citizens in third world countries. This year, Rick and his team from Southridge Church are headed to the Philippines to provide much needed help with the fundamentals of agriculture.Rick has been challenged to raise $4,000 to help make this vitally important project possible. Your donation helps cover the cost of airfare, accommodations, food, transportation, translators and direct project costs.
About the Project
Samaritan’s Purse combats hunger around the world by providing impoverished farmers with the resources and training they need to feed their families and even obtain a modest income that can be used for education, medical care, or other needs. This work is possible because of generous people like you.
The Philippines has a population of more than 100 million people, and is the seventh-most populated country in Asia, consisting of 7,107 diversely beautiful islands. One of the biggest challenges for local farmers is the huge cost of seed and fertilizers, keeping them in debt and unable to provide the basic daily needs for their families.
Samaritan’s Purse is sending teams of modern-day Good Samaritans to work alongside our SEED (something to eat every day) project. Manny Asprec started the first SEED demonstration farm in the Philippines in 1999 and today, more than 4000 people from 10 Asian countries are applying these simple, basic principles to their family agriculture plots. The SEED Project empowers isolated rural families who own small farms to become self–sufficient in teaching agriculture practices that require no outside resources. Crops, fruits and vegetables are grown in balance with small scale livestock, poultry and fish enterprises in such a way as to bring a synergy into the overall operation and to spread harvest throughout the entire year.
In Rick’s Own Words:
When I heard about this unique opportunity to minister in the Philippines, I knew I found my fit. One of the biggest challenges for local farmers is the huge cost of seed and fertilizers, keeping them in debt and unable to provide the basic daily needs for their families. The SEED Project empowers rural farmers to become self–sufficient in teaching agriculture practices that require no outside resources. Crops are grown in balance with small scale livestock, poultry and fish enterprises in such a way as to bring a synergy into the overall operation and to spread harvest throughout the entire year.
Help Samaritan’s Purse in the Philippines as we work with local partners to increase food security and raise the economic condition of pastors and farmers living in rural communities. Your donation will not only help make this incredible opportunity a reality, but you will also be helping to bring a reliable food source and hope to people in the Philippines!
