Electrochromic mirrors are a special kind of rearview mirror unique to higher-end vehicles.
An electrochromic mirror features a special color-changing gel pressed between two mirror lenses. A front-facing sensor measures ambient exterior light, and a rear-facing sensor detects glare, such as the headlights of a vehicle approaching from behind. When reward glare is present, the gel darkens to reduce glare, yet maintain visibility in the ambient light.
Vehicles that don’t have electrochromic mirrors can be adjusted using a tab feature that tilts the mirror to reduce glare.
If your vehicle has an electrochromic mirror that needs to be replaced, let us know. Your local Crackmasters shop can order a replacement from the original equipment manufacturer and install it for you.
